The 7th Nordic-African Business Summit, 2017 was hosted The Nordic-African Business Summit is organised by the Norwegian-African Business Association (NABA) in partnership with Norfund – the government’s investment fund, and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It has become one of Europe’s leading business and investor conferences focusing exclusively on the African continent.
This full-day event brings together notable speakers, ministers, ambassadors and guests from the Nordic and African business communities with the goal of increasing cooperation and trade between African countries and Norway.
The theme ‘Investing in Africa’s transition: How, not Why?’, looked at Africa’s staggering growth over the previous 15 years. The world’s second fastest growing region, with the youngest population, the continent will also hold the world’s largest workforce by 2040.
These transitions will require a committed private sector that can help grow food supply, healthcare services, infrastructure/ energy, communication, technology and educational services, among much else.
Addressing the ‘How’, the summit explored: ‘How do you succeed in Africa, how do you create good partnerships and what are the lessons learnt.’
A keynotes speech delivered by H.E. Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of Ghana, was followed by plenary and parallel sessions, panels discussions and speakers, delegations, Ambassadors and guests from the Nordic and African business communities, networking across industries, making new business connections between countries, and sharing valuable experiences.
NABA currently has over 145 member companies operating in 44 African countries. Sectors include: oil and gas, renewable energy, agribusiness, finance, tourism, shipping, fishery and real estate. NABA promotes business opportunities between the African continent in Norway and advocates for more, better and safer business collaboration. NABA is the only Norwegian-African chamber of commerce.
NABA’s membership in the European Business Council for Africa and the Mediterranean (EBCAM), introduces more than 4,000 European companies working in African markets.
