A 704-kilometer line that cuts through the Sahara Desert
Urban warrior Amanda Ngabirano
Car-centric African cities challenged by the effects of rapid urbanisation are facing daily traffic congestion, air pollution and transportation challenges and Amanda Ngabirano, bicycling enthusiast, urban planner & lecturer at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda is passionate about the solutions that lie in alternative modes of transport. We need to rethink mobility in Africa.
We are still a green continent by way of living and life but by design we are at a risk that we will lose the green.

While Africa is still a green continent, Amanda believes that by design we are at a risk of losing the green and that it’s time for tough decisions to be made regarding the mobility issues affecting everyone in cities.
Amanda takes us on a journey through her world and the potential for Africa to learn from and leapfrog past the mistakes European cities have made and create more livable, thriving, sustainable cities.
We are at that point in time where we must take smart and radical decisions to turn it upside down and prioritise our investments, transport infrastructure investments to favour the majority of people and reclaim the cities.
